Refresh your stove vents

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cleaning Solution: Bring a pot of water to a vigorous boil. Once it’s bubbling, generously sprinkle baking soda into the water. The amount of baking soda depends on the volume of water; don’t be alarmed if it begins to fizz—that’s a good sign! Add the baking soda gradually to avoid excess.
  2. Immerse the Filters: Use tongs to carefully immerse the filters into the boiling solution. The water will swirl around the filters as the grease starts to loosen. For smaller filters, leave them in the solution for about a minute. For larger filters, consider cleaning them in halves.
  3. Observe the Transformation: After removing the filters from the solution, you’ll notice a significant improvement. The grease and grime will have loosened, making the filters much cleaner. Cooking with these freshly cleaned filters will give you peace of mind and help minimize unwanted cooking odors.
  4. Reuse and Refresh: For additional filters, you can reuse the same water, adding more baking soda as needed to maintain the fizz. The result? Sparkling clean filters!
  5. Clean-Up: Your pot might look a bit soiled afterward, but it’s easy to clean. For disposing of the wastewater, I recommend doing so in a secluded area of your garden, away from pets and children, to avoid coating pipes or harming the environment.

This entire process took less than 10 minutes from start to finish. I hope you find this method as efficient and straightforward as I have!

Enjoy your refreshed stove vents and the ease of cooking with clean, grease-free filters!
