- 1 to 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- ⅓ cup onion diced
- ⅓ cup carrot diced
- ⅓ cup celery diced
- ½ cup cabbage shredded
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 7 cups chicken broth low sodium
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cups kale roughly chopped
- ½ cup acini de pepe pasta or any small pasta
