German Beef Rouladen

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
  • Instructions:

    1. Lay out the beef slices and season them with salt and pepper.
    2. Spread about 1 tablespoon of mustard evenly on each beef slice.
    3. Place 2 slices of bacon, a few onion pieces, and a pickle slice on each beef slice.
    4. Roll up each beef slice tightly, ensuring the filling stays inside. Secure with toothpicks if necessary.
    5. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    6. Brown the beef rolls on all sides until golden brown, working in batches if necessary. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
    7. In the same skillet, add the beef broth and red wine (if using), scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
